科研：自己找老师，有老师愿意接你你可以做36学分的研究，还有实习你也可以做RA. 主要看有没有老师带你。

费用

学费一学期$21000，最后一学期按学分收费，一共三个学期，2.1+2.1+1.4=5.6万，湾区实习工资一个月$5000左右。

租房成本虽在湾区，但也远远没有一般人想象的高，根据我们内部的租房信息统计数据大家的预算每人$700-1000足矣。吃饭等其他生活费也并不比匹兹堡高，物价也差不了太多，可是地理位置的优越上匹兹堡可就差距太大了~

生活费每个人不一样，在硅谷，你的房租会在500_{800之间，在匹兹堡，只需要300} 500之间，吃饭上自己做的话很省钱，不是自己做的话，硅谷在每天20刀左右，匹兹堡15刀就够了。然后看你平常消费了。我自我感觉2W可能差不多。

不过如果你暑期实习的，这样你大概会有1W到1W5的收入（根据群里信息更正：2万左右，3个月实习），这个看你找到什么公司了，这个也可以考虑在内。

不看志愿顺序

MIIS有两个特点，

• 一个是有硬性的Directed Study要求学生在教授指导下做科研（很想弱化弱化版的MLT）
• 一个是可发展SDE也可发展MLE。这两个特点都是有利有弊吧。

收到了CMU的MIIS项目的AD。其实SCS学院最想去的是MCDS项目，这个项目就随手写到第二志愿的，PS里面提到的也都是想去MCDS项目，没想到录了。可能是个人背景和这个项目比较match吧。补一发详细点的个人背景，本科PKU计算机系，GPA一般85/100，排名百分之30多。MSRA一年的实习，主要做数据挖掘方面的工程的工作。参与的项目已经投入微软的power BI的使用以及集成到新版EXCEL中。科研较弱，只有一篇paper在投IJCAI2018中。4封推荐信两封来自任课老师两封来自MSRA的Lead Researcher。地里有没有对这个项目比较了解的同学可以介绍一下这个项目的选课，学习方向，以及将来的就业情况，因为个人还是比较关心就业的问题。以及这个项目相比于MCDS项目的区别以及优劣，感谢大家！

硬性科研要求对于志在上神课和刷题找工作的同学无疑是个不算小的负担，但如果对有一些科研兴趣的同学来说同样是一段有意义的，可以写在简历上的项目经历。而且有的项目中的产出，比如论文（有希望？）或者开发的工具包等等，也会对找工有帮助。

MIIS的项目设计主要是培养MLE，毕竟LTI本身搞得就是NLP而不是SDE那套东西。但是硕士在MLE岗位的竞争力远不如PhD也是不争的事实，这就让MIIS的定位有些尴尬。于是很多同学虽然录了MIIS，但还是一心向SDE去发展。

据毕业的学长说， 找工其实和上了什么课关系不大。ML的课同样可以找SDE，只要自己刷题足够，代码硬实力过关都没太大问题。 重要的可能还是CMU CS的title。

不过MIIS的mentor项目（MIIS历届毕业的学长学姐）中的简历可以看到，还是有相当一部分找到了MLE的岗位。具体细节楼主还不是很清楚，等后续有了更多了解会回来更新。

CMU SCS 找工氛围浓厚。开学前就开始了career orientation，手把手教你怎么做简历，怎么做linkedin主页等等，还可以预约一对一的面谈来修改简历等等。同学之前关于投实习，找工作的讨论也很多。

另外MIIS还邀请了刚刚暑假实习结束的学长学姐分享经验，估计其他项目也会有。而且MIIS要求学生第二年暑假必须参与实习。总的来说，SCS找工既有官方引导和支持，又有同学间的讨论，体验还是不错的。

LTI可选提交video essay。是不是做下比较好？做这个的目的是什么呀，好茫然。好像要说的话在简历啦或者statement of purpose里也说过了呀。我也没有拍过视频，更不会剪辑编辑了。就是傻傻一张大脸读SOP的感觉么？倒是看到网上有些business的视频，做的好棒的样子，但是我也没那么放得开，当然也没那技术。

以前是计算生物的专业，但是改名以后bar飞升

msaii学费要十一万多刀两年，哥大是七万多一年半

MSAII的学费确实是计算机科学硕士项目中的高端价位，且没有奖学金。两年总花费在一百二十万人民币左右。

海本陆本都有，gpa高低都有，3.75我觉得没有太低可能因为我是陆本，有AI专业的也有完全不相关专业的也有完全没有AI相关经历的，director看人比较玄学，我自己的理解是你得让他觉得你有趣lol。

找不到MLE工作

在这里我再说一下，在美帝，其实大部分（>90%)应届毕业生都是会找SDE的工作，Machine Learning Engineer很多要求Phd学位，其实学太多ML、AI方面的东西反而对找SDE工作没太多帮助。

MSAII提供了一些与众不同的专业课程，包括商务、法律和管理方面的。其中两门是在第一学期，一门在第三学期。当然，还有很多与AI紧密相关的必修课。你在这里学习的两年里，可以选择3-5门的选修课。不过，即使你想全力以赴，CMU的所有好课程也是学不完的。建议大家还是根据自己的兴趣和未来的发展方向选择课程，比如偏向SDE或MLE。

在疫情前，学生们基本都能进入顶级公司工作。但近两年找工作确实有点挑战，这不只是匹兹堡或CMU的问题，全美都这样。去年的学生中，有部分选择回国实习，而在美国找到工作的大约1/3进了初创公司，1/3去了像Apple，Amazon这样的大公司，还有1/3进了IT咨询、银行等其他领域。

费用：

MSAII的学费确实是计算机科学硕士项目中的高端价位，而且是没有奖学金的。两年总花费在一百二十万人民币左右。

文科转码MITS经验

CMU MITS项目，选课自由度一般，暑假强制上课所以没有CPT。同学们很强，老师也不错。对我个人来讲就是coding的课有点太难了，但对于本科是cs的同学来讲可能正合适。

不可能的，至少23整个ECE，非常保守的说，找到明年实习绝对不超过1/10

坐标CMU MSCV，往年100%就业率，过半的人去了FLAG。剩下的也是Waymo，Cruise，Tesla这样的自驾巨头。今年拿到offer的，屈指可数，还都是小公司。

从我身边这届录取的人来看，其实 CMU ECE课改以后的bar完全没下降， 还是要比cornell ECE高不少，尤其是CMU的fall。（地里录取数据其实也看得出）

然后CMU课改后如果想转码, 选课还是完全够的，因为本身ECE里有很多CS软课可以选，认识的人里本科CS去了准备选全软课的也不少，完全不需要选硬课。

这么说吧，sv就像是小时候语数英老师包揽了你的语数英政史地物化生，三个老师包揽了七八门核心课，那能指望那些老师都精通吗？不可能的。其他学校CS项目上每门课的教授起码都是在他上课的领域有过成就的。

像楼下@一起听海豚音 提到的，CMU的数据只是based on survey，而survey是有幸存者偏差的。74人做survey肯定不意味着一届只有74个人毕业，正常来说算出来的大厂百分比应该更加缩水。

补充一点，CMU真的是商业机构，把master 学生当cash cow。另外三大最多就两个和ee/cs相关的ms，cmu是变着法儿。。

私心说一点，认识不少大佬学长回国了，不知道是不是survey里面没把他们统计进去。。。

另外，学校数据不一定是准确的。去年有学长去了bytedance但是就业报告里面并没有。

2023: btw我npy在INI的MSIN，他的说法是，感觉身边女生基本都上岸了而且人手两三个选，workload确实比较大但是主要还是看选课，选水课多的话其实也还好。

MSAI-IS

这是去年的新项目，第一届学生在ini好像是十人左右，不记得具体招了多少了，属于CMU College of Engeering的大initiative下的一部分。这个项目的大背景是，去年CoE在不同的学院下面新开了八个MSAIE项目（去年八个项目我记得一共是几十人吧好像），立志于培养学生用AI engineering解决具体领域问题的能力。比如MSAIE-InfoSec (INI), MSAIE-ECE，MSAIE-mechanical engineering etc。 他们的共同点是AI的core都是一样的，学院specific core跟学院走，比如INI的是属于info sec的stream，叫MSAIE-IS，所以学院的core就是is的课。如果是ece的话叫MSAIE-ECE, AI的core会一样，学院的core是ece的课。所以如果你对is完全不感兴趣，他的确会减少你选课的自由度。

和msin比较了下课程，少四节选scs课的机会，因为core占太多学分了…
core里network/business和msin差不多，ai/is core多出来好多课啊，把学分都占没了😅

去年新开的项目，插个题外话这边workload大的可能你来了也不会选太多scs的课

只要是和美国当地政府有合作的企业/部门， 是不会招收国际学生的

大厂有安全岗位，但是不多（虽然申请者可能也没SDE这么多）

学校里学的知识和大厂需要的知识相比会比较脱节，总体来说更推荐之前就有安全方面经验的人就读安全项目（特别是时间相对来说比较紧张的master项目）

如果对安全感兴趣，更加推荐的是可以选其他项目然后选修安全课

MSIS 共30人，10中国人，大多有security背景

MSIS估计录取了30个人，基本都是有infosec背景的同学。因为是21fall有很多20fall滞留重申学生（包括我）还有工作几年的大腿~

专业课和MSIN差不多，多了两门infosec必修，少了一门system core。感觉录取的学生都是有security背景的（除了我 呜呜）

就业的话，刚刚入学三周，已经有同学上岸大厂了~感觉大家还是狠厉害的呜呜呜！
